I probably previously said in another post how since buying the property in Maruia, we didn’t have enough money to actually do anything with it. but we have been blessed with all sorts of junk laying around and things left by the pervious owner that has enabled us to achieve most of what we needed to get done including the new greenhouse.

we also had a kind donation of a few thousand dollars worth of building materials for the barn build. but every now and then we have to get creative with what we have. the last time i dove into the sand hill i made a composting toilet with urine diverter. then the concrete floor in the barn. Now we have made bricks as we needed to build another raised garden bed in the new greenhouse.

I was in such a rush to not only make the bricks but also to make the beds with them that i started assembling them whilst they were still curing so I’m glad we made 6 extra ones to replace the ones that broke.
We also went and visited the cafĂ© down the road to see if their was a market for our produce. we took a few samples of mizuna, lettuce, zucchini and parsley. They seemed pleased with it and seem interested in tomatoes and cucumbers too so I’m in a hurry to start selling our produce but the plants seem a little more reluctant to grow any faster than they are. SO like everything else around here it all seems to come in dribs and drabs and I can’t complete anything as I would like. Perhaps Gods teaching me patience again? We also had a bus break down outside on the road so I offered to help the guy diagnose the problem. Just today I was complaining to myself about how if I had the money I could at least get some of the projects finished and i offered up my little prayer to God which I felt surely had disappeared on the wind and landed in the neighbors paddock. Anyway the guy gave me $50 for working out what the problem was and calling the mechanic from springs to come fix it for him. I’m pretty sure it was a cracked head or blown gasket. maybe one day I will find out what it was. But in the mean time it’s back to doing one thing or another as materials arrive. What i really would like to get my hands on is some more building paper and purlins for the false ceiling under the barn roof. I’m pretty sure we will be getting a cow in a month or two and some chickens as well so I’m also thinking about how to make a chicken coup out of reinforcing mesh and a milking station for the cow.
Me and Serena had a discussion about registering for GST last night because we could claw back the GST we paid on this property to use for building but everyone tells me its a big mistake. it would be nice to have the cash but I feel like I need to be patient…Again…sigh
