Nature calls

Finally we now have a working compost toilet after about 2 week’s of messing around with concrete. I had wanted to get a urine diverter but it costs $50 so decided to just use what we have on hand again which consists of our metal pit and half a bag of cement left over from another project. It consisted of wrapping wire netting around a plastic bucket a couple of times and then build a diverter into the front, again with mesh and then plastering it. Really happy with how it turned out. In fact I was so proud of it I painted the inside with gold paint.

I might have to work on improving the seat at some point as its. a little rough to sit on after I painted it. I thought the truck color for the outside rather than leaving it a concrete color but I think one day I may paint it white. Once the bucket underneath it gets full we will put the compost into a thick plastic garden bag and put some holes in the bottom. This will let worms in to work it for the next 9 months. Funny it ended up looking a little like a top hat.
