A time to mourn. There is a song that speaks of the seasons of life as times for different things. A time to live a time to die. a time to gather and a time to scatter. A time to plant and a time to reap.But for me and perhaps others the season of morning goes longer than a season. it’s perhaps one of the few things that does. But what the bible says is that God draws near to the broken hearted and in my case he certainly has at times when I’ve felt losses more keenly. Sometimes it’s not the loss of a person that we morn. Sometimes it’s a situation, a time, an age we were when things were simpler, sometimes a memory lost. It could be anything under the sun and only the heart knows it’s own sadness and it’s one of the things that is hard to share. But I’m grateful that if we ever did want to share it God would be willing to offer comfort and solace if we asked him into our hearts and allowed him to mourn with us and be with us in that moment.
